How to Shop at Kmart, the coupon challenge, Day 22

Years ago, we use to shop at Kmart more than any other discounter. And then came Walmart. The days of the “Blue light specials” are long gone.
Kmart is now part of the bigger family of stores operated by Sears and is trying to survive competing with stores like Walmart.

If you are lucky enough to still have a Kmart near you, you can take advantage of the shopping there.

Ironically, Kmart does not have a ‘public’ coupon policy (yet, Sears does). By digging around, we found that Kmart views coupons according to ‘events’- such as ‘double coupon event.’

In a Kmart ‘double coupon event’ you may find this:

  • Double Manufacturer Coupons Up to $2.00 with purchase of $25 or more in grocery & drugstore merchandise
  • Participating stores only.
  • Amount of credit from doubling a coupon cannot exceed the current retail price of a single item.
  • No cash or in-store purchase credit will be awarded for any amount exceeding the retail price of the item.
  • Limit 1 coupon for each item purchased.
  • Only 1 coupon will be doubled per item.
  • You may only purchase 4 of the same item using double coupons.
  • Excludes Buy One, Get One offers, Kmart Savings coupons and Kmart Store coupons
  • Coupons do not apply to sales tax.
  • Limit 10 coupons per customer per day.

Thanks for this post. I’ve signed up for the Kmart card but never took advantage of their double coupon deals. Tiffypoot @ (aol.com)

I detest WalMart so prefer to shop at Kmart or other low priced retailer.

Thanks for the chart. I always forget Kmart, my hubby goes there more often though. They do have great prices & they are actually 3 miles closer to me then Walmart (which I actually can’t stand). We do have the rewards card & use it. Have to look more into what I get out of it though. I’m going to go back & read your posts better.

I always have problems finding in-stock items when they do the double coupons, especially things like pet food and grocery items. Sometimes I wonder if they just took them off shelf.
