I try to keep my sugar intake down as much as possible.
I have found that limiting my sugar intake to the sugar that is naturally present in foods, such as fruit, it what works for me.
When I went totally sugar free, what I missed most was fruit.
I love fruit and I especially love apples. I love apple picking and I love apple baking. I truly believe that there is a way to have the best of all worlds while keeping sugar low.
No Sugar Added Apple Crisp

Ask a dozen people what kind of apples are best for baked treats like this one and you may get 16 different answers.
That is why I like to use more than one kind of apple when I bake. I like the taste of apples from different varieties and how they get along when they work together.
I find that pairing a green apple, such as a Granny Smith, with a red apple, such as a Pink Lady, not only makes for a unique taste, it also makes for a more colorful dessert. This makes my palette happy.
- 6, sliced 1/4-1/2 thick Apples, cored and sliced with skin on.
- 3/4 cup Sugar alternative
- 1/2 cup Baking mix (can just use all purpose flour with a dash of salt)
- 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
- 1 stick Softened butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Seasonings of choice- cinnamon/nutmeg
