This is the time of the year that I like to take inventory of everything around me.
One area that I tackle is my make-up.
The Beauty Brushes We Need to Be Using Now
The hot beauty trends this year really have a lot to do with the brushes that we are using.
Beauty trends seem to come and go. Remember blue eye shadow or the now fading into the sunset smokey eye?
Right now make up is a lot about blending.
That’s thanks to the contouring and blending that the celebrity and other professional make up artists are showing us.
I just updated my brushes to help me update my look.
I like to shop at elf for my brushes. elf (eyes, lips, and face- no caps) has highly rated brushes that are reasonably priced (most under $5!) and are vegan.
elf calls these 10 brushes “perfect 10”
Everything you need, for every application.
Make up trends change and this is a good time to update yours.
Did you know that there is a brush for just about everything that we put on to our face to look beautiful?
Here are the 10 brushes that we need to get going on that updated look.
1. The Blending Brush
A domed shaped brush perfect for blending eyeshadow.
How to Use This Brush
Simply glide the brush across the eyelid in a sweeping movement to blend color.
2. The Crease Brush
Use this to apply eyeshadow into the crease of the eyelid. Use this tapered tip for contouring and to add depth and definition. This brush works great with loose or pressed eyeshadow-wet or dry!
How to Use
Apply color to the crease of the eyelid using back and forth motions to blend.
3. Eyeshadow “C” Brush
This brush is a soft, absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products.
Why we are using this brush:
– Helps create the perfect smokey eye.
– The medium sized brush gives more control for specific blending needs.
– Use with powder eyeshadow product for color blending.
4. Small angled Brush
This brush can be used with wet or dry products.
Use the small angled brush to create even, thin and straight lines.
Use this brush to apply lip color, eyebrow color, or to line eyes.
How to use this-
Dip the brush into the product and draw over the desired area in smooth, short strokes.
5. Angled Eyeliner Brush
Use this thin pointed brush to create an even and accurate application. This brush can provide a controlled placement around the lash line.
How to use this= Dip the brush into your eyeliner and apply a thin line of color directly to your upper or lower lash lines.
6 Contouring Brush
Contouring is so big right now, thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian for demonstrating it on social media.
This brush has densely packed hair and a specifically structured shape meant to achieve dimension along the cheekbones, forehead, and jawline.
Experts tell us to use a lighter color along the t-zone and under the eyes and a darker shade along the cheek bones and the sides of the nose.
To use this brush, simply blend the colors together using sweeping strikes.
7. The ‘Selfie Ready’ Foundation Brush
This brush is for applying evenly over the face. They call this process “blurring” for a soft-focus “selfie ready” effect. Use this to set your makeup in with powder using circular, buffing motions. I was surprised at how mush a difference this brush and the ‘setting process’ made for me.
8. Blush Brush
This brush comes in an angled version as well. This brush can be used with powder and liquid brush. Simply use it by applying your blush to your cheeks and working your way upward to your hairline.
9.Flawless Concealer Brush
Use this to apply your concealer. It does a better job than using your hands by the way.
Experts say to apply the concealer in thin and light layers using this brush.
10. Small Stipple Brush
This is the brush that we should be using to fine-tuning a look.
This is the brush that they say will create a soft airbrushed look. Use it to apply foundation or add color definition elsewhere. It is good for covering up many skin color deviations such as age spots.
